Navagio
Voted one of the five most beautiful beaches in the world this is a must see!
One of the most famous beaches on the planet and a tourist trademark of Zakynthos and Greece. Crystal clear waters, white sandy beach and hanging cliffs where the shipwreck is located makes for a scene with beautiful contrasts.
This unique setting was created in 1982 when the ship “Panagiotis”, ran aground due to adverse weather conditions and engine failure. The famous beach is only accessible by boat although you can admire the view from above on a specially built platform.
Both the shipwreck beach and the blue caves are in the same proximity.
Blue Caves
The Blue Caves are one of the island’s most famous natural attractions after Navagio Beach. The were discovered in 1897 by Antonio Komouto and attract thousands of visitors every year. The caves are located east of Cape Schinari, almost directly below the Lighthouse. Consisting of consecutive chambers which lead to the Great and Little Cave, they owe their name to the blue waters, as all objects below the water appear to have a blue hue. Excursions to the caves are available by special tour boats.
